Schwangau castles. Bavaria. Germany.

Visiting Schwangau was the highlight of the trip. The city lies only 1.5 km from the famous Bavaria castles. And we rented a house with a view on those castles. It was an indescribable experience.

I don't want it to sound as advert, so if you'll need a name of the hotel we stayed in, just contact me. But I really love it. The owners were very nice, we had very nice view and the room was very clean and cozy. You can actually see the castle from our balcony.

The castles were just a few km away from out hotel, but we preferred to move by car. The first castle is Hohenschwangau. One of the coolest castles I've seen.

After you park your car you'll find yourself in a small town, where it's very easy to find a ticket station. We took a guided tour.

The castle is not that big, but I really advice you to take that tour. It was the childhood residence of King Ludwig II of Bavaria and was built by his father, King Maximilian II of Bavaria.

After the end of the tour you will leave the castle from another side, and that's where you'll see a great view on a lake Alpsee.

A perfect place to sit and chill before the next tour.

Next destination is Neuschwanstein Castle. Short description from Wikipedia: "Neuschwanstein Castle is a nineteenth-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. "

There are 3 ways to get to the castle. First, is by bus. But you will have to wait in line and the waiting time during our visit was about 30 minutes. The second is by carriage with horses, which is kinda slow. And the third is to walk. We chose the last option and we walked up for around 15 minutes.

I really enjoyed both castles. I think it is a definitely a must see. But now it's time to relax and have a good rest. Tomorrow we'll have new places to see.
